VICTORY FOR THE GREAT STATE OF MAINE!!
On
November 2 nd the people of Maine sent the Humane Society
of the United States and Fund for Animals, the primary
national anti-hunting organizations funding the referendum
to ban bear hunting in Maine by method, i.e. baiting
and hounds, packing with a strong message. DON’T
COME BACK!!!!!
After
an agonizing 1 ½ year campaign funded and supported
by Maine ’s sportsmen and sportsmen like
you across the nation, we have sent a message
of historical significance to the national anti-hunting
group fanatics. DON’T TREAD ON US!!!!
Our
coalition, “ Maine ’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Council” lead by the Maine Professional Guides
Association, Sportsmen’s Alliance of Maine and
the Maine Trapper’s Association raised $1.5 million
to finance our campaign. Thirty-five percent of that
money came from national organizations including Safari
Club International, National Rifle Association, Ballot
Initiative Coalition, the Sportsmen’s Alliance
of the United States and small sportsmen’s groups
across the country. With this support we were able to
run a campaign unprecedented in the history of these
events.
Bear
hunting with bait and hounds is alive and well in Maine
, and will remain so for many years to come .
We
at North Country Lodge wish to extend to you our sincere
gratitude for your support in securing “ Maine ’s
Hunting Heritage,” and look forward
to hunting with you again in the not so distant future.
